Envy is a group I recently discovered. Admittedly, they reminded me initially of the Lighthouse Brothers, remember them? But they are much better and the video is a nice positive take on Africa – Nigeria in particular.
This next tune has been in rotation for a number of years now. I learned of The Very Best when I found out that Ezra Koenig of Vampire Weekend had worked on a couple of their tracks.It was also a free mixtape so I had no reason not to pick it up. The first track is Kamphopo
The second track is called Warm Heart of Africa which has that early Vampire Weekend feel to it but much more of a raw African feel.
