OK – I caved in a few years back and bought a bright red Moncler down coat. It’s warm, it’s light and folds down into a convenient pillow shape when travelling. Bet the designers didn’t think of that.
The company floated this week and their own became a billionaire (on paper) in about 30seconds. Reading about him and his company in the Telegraph, one thing struck me about his approach:
“You know, whenever I think of ‘luxury’ – not a word I always like so much – I think of the wallet my mother gave me 25 years ago,” he said. “It is from Hermès, and it is always here in my pocket. It has not melted, or fallen apart, it is still there. For me, that is luxury.”
It’s also great to see that he is rather suspicious of fashion!
