On the 7th of November, I have the pleasure of attending the Sustainia 2013 awards ceremony in Copenhagen, I have watched with interest as Sustainia picked up momentum and started to do something in sustainability that had never really been done before. There are many disparate ideas, many innovations and a lot of positives but it has always been hard to pin down what is happening and more importantly what kind of world it is possible to create. Sustainia seeks to show the ingenuity, creativity and hard work that is taking place around the world addressing key issues of our time.
In addition to their excellent branding, they have also secured key partnerships with companies such as Novo Nordisk, UN Global Compact, General Electric and WWF to name a few. Their award committee consists of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Connie Hedegaard (EU Commissioner for Climate Change), Gro Harlem Brundtland (Brundtland report and former Prime Minister of Norway) and Dr Rajendra Pachuri (Chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change). If that wasn’t enough, Sustainia’s Executive DIrector has just been confirmed as a World Changer in The Verge 25 Awards.
